As a DAV member, you benefit from reduced entry prices and gain access to top-class indoor climbing and bouldering areas that set new standards in competitive sport.
1. DAV Climbing & Boulder Center Thalkirchen

Is the competition wall on the ground floor too easy for you? – No problem!
This gym is the hub of the elite sports association, making it a true performance center and role model. The national, regional, and state squads train here, so you have a good chance of spotting one of your climbing idols. If you’re seeking a real challenge, try the five World Cup simulation boulders and find out what you need to reach pro level.

Across two levels, you’ll find varied boulders in different difficulty grades – from classic beginner routes to complex competition boulders. The thoughtful wall design enables targeted technique and flexibility training, while large open areas ensure ample space even at peak times. The outdoor area is another summer highlight, combining athletic performance with a relaxed atmosphere – plenty of natural light, fresh air, and urban greenery.
What sets these gyms apart is their focus on competition-style bouldering: some routes are set to official competition standards – perfect for competition prep or exploring new movement patterns. Ambitious athletes also have access to training boards, system walls, and a strength training room.

Einstein Bouldering Hall – Urban, Innovative & Versatile
Located on Landsbergerstraße, Einstein Bouldering Hall is a modern meeting point for those who take bouldering seriously but don’t want to sacrifice style and ambiance. It’s part of the well-known Einstein chain from Ulm, bringing its youthful concept successfully to Bavaria’s capital.
Over around 2,000 m² of bouldering area, you’ll find a great variety of routes that are regularly re-set. Whether you’re bouldering for the first time or working specifically on your technique – there are suitable challenges at every level. The wall design is as varied as the community: technical, dynamic – or occasionally playful.

A special focus here is the combination of sport, lifestyle, and community. The open architecture, high ceilings, and stylish interior design create a modern loft feel that stands out from the typical gym. There’s also a separate training area with everything a climber’s heart desires – campus board, system wall, and functional equipment for overall fitness. However, this layout means that during peak hours many people gather in the same spots. To avoid this, consider visiting in the less crowded morning hours.
After your session, you can relax in the in-house café with tasty snacks and a cozy, stylish atmosphere – ideal for unwinding or chatting with fellow boulderers.
Another highlight: regular events, community meetups, technique workshops, and even after‑work gatherings ensure that Einstein is more than just a training venue – it’s an integral part of Munich’s bouldering scene.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday 6:00 AM–11:00 PM
Saturday & Sunday 9:00 AM–11:00 PM

Riesige Rosi – A Different Bouldering Experience
If traditional bouldering gyms bore you or you’ve already tried them all locally, here’s a special concept: the former Ramersdorf underpass has been converted into a freely accessible bouldering wall. After this spot saw little traffic, the “Kraxlkollektiv” of the DAV stepped in to create a weatherproof climbing location. No registration is needed – it’s all about showing up and climbing! There’s something for every level, whether you’re a curious beginner or an ambitious boulderer.
The routes are regularly re-set, so even repeat visits reveal fresh challenges.

The so‑called “Kraxlkollektiv” comprises bouldering enthusiasts advocating for free bouldering around Munich. In addition to Riesige Rosi, they’ve realized projects like “Dicken Hans” on the Theresienwiese and “Lolliblock” at Sugar Mountain. Everyone is welcome to pitch in and try new things.
Have you ever wanted to set your own route?
At Riesige Rosi’s regular re-setting events, every extra hand is welcome, and you can design tricky boulder problems yourself.
